Hi All,

Is there an API/package using which I can implement a soft keyboard (also known as onscreen keyboard) using Java ?

Thanks,
Cathy.

Yes, it's called Swing.

You can easily create your own keyboard and have it listening for mouse requests. If you have another component that implements KeyListener you can have the keyboard forward keyevents to that one.

The keypresses will only be passed to your Java program though.

Are you trying to create a soft keyboard that can pass keypresses to the OS and hence, any program? You will probably have to resort to JNI for that.

I am trying to talk to the program only for the time being.

Thanks for your feedback.
