Understanding Annotations

I'm not shure which Java forum is appropriate for my question so I put it in the intermediate.

I don't get this new Annotation feature in Tiger. I know what it can be used for but I can't understand how. How does it work in practice. I only found short articles but those were not enough for me to get the picture. :-)

Could you suggest a good documentation, article, book or something?

Thanks in advance,

The following is quite a good article on annotations.

This article provides one extended example of how you might use annotations:

Books: Pragmatic Unit Testing in Java, Agile Java, Modern C++ Programming with TDD, Essential Java Style, Agile in a Flash. Contributor, Clean Code.
