Generally we discourage offtopic posts during book promotions. However it's the last day, and since I'm already getting a copy of the book I have asked our promotion runner Thomas Paul to exclude me from the drawing. So this off-topic post isn't taking a book from anyone else. Anyway:

1. Can you tell us anything about what you're doing at Google nowadays? Is there some new coffee-based language on the horizon, for example?

2. If you can't answer that , then how about your opinions on a much more pressing issue: Who's your favorite Head First girl?

Both Neal and I do Java evangelism and consulting within Google. I am leading a group that does Java infrastructure at Google. Neal is working on a product. Of course we can't tell you about products before they're announced, but I'll give you a hint: space elevators. (Note to the humor impaired: Neal isn't really working on space elevators--Google doesn't do aerospace.) Both Neal and I are active in the Java Community Process. I am Google's EC rep and active on one JSR. Neal is active on several JSRs.

As for my favorite Head First girl, I can't tell you because I don't have my son's copy handy. I could give the politically correct Lake Woebegone answer and say "all of them are above average." But I'm not that politically correct. I'll take a look when I get home from work.
