Die hard liberals consider themselves intellectually superior to conservatives. They take particular glee in trying to make this point every chance they get. These constant "Bush is an idiot" harangues are only extensions of that philosophy. Along those lines is this quote by Thomas Sowell:
"In the annointed we find a whole class of supposedly 'thinking people' who do remarkably little thinking about substance and a great deal of verbal expression. In order that this relatively small group of people can believe themselves wiser and nobler than the common herd, we have adopted policies which impose heavy costs on millions of other human beings, not only in taxes, but in lost jobs, social disintegration and a loss of personal safety. Seldom have so few cost so much to so many."

Total crap. Well, almost.
Ari Fleischer once mentioned, "The president believes that Ariel Sharon is a man of peace"
But then, it is a personal view.
But GWB did called the inhabitants of East Timor "East Timorians" and the people of Greece "Greecians".
And I won't be surprised if he calls "General Musharraf of Pakistan is a Democrat"

Whoever it was that used the term Grecian most likely used it correctly. Grecian when used as a noun means "a native or inhabitant of Greece". When used as an adjective, it simply means "Greek". Feel free to look it up.

It is "the French". Not "the Frenches"
It is "the Chinese". Not "the Chineses"
Which is the acceptable word for inhabitants of Greece - Grecian or Grecians!?

"Grecians" or "Greeks" are both acceptable as plural forms. "Grecian" or "Greek" are both acceptable as singular forms. Sure, "Greek" seems to be more commonly used, but there is nothing wrong with "Grecian". Chinese and French are irrelevant here - not all words use the same patterns. See discussion here for more examples. Or just trust the dictionary link which Jason provided - it's quite correct.

There was a void in the English language for a word with this meaning and he filled it (it means to not understand and to underestimate). How many other Presidents have been this creative and usefull? Actually, this ability to form new words to encapsulate concepts is a sign of superior intelligence in addition to creativity.

Balaji, you have your own leaders to make fun of!
We once had a prime-minister who was famous for his unfortunate phrases, and everybody were happy to laugh. Now imagine some foreign newspaper collected those phrases and published them - hmm.. That's not funny
"We're going to have the best educated American people in the world" makes perfect sense. Some countries tend to have their most educated citizens... somewhere else.

I do not recollect Balaji making a statement anywhere that he isn't an American. What is the definition of American ?
Somebody asked a very pertinent question here.

Hi Map
Still I am same .... but point is that, when a joke comes why some people cant take it as joke?? and at the same time they can joke on any thing they thing is humour but actually is not a joke but aiming to one particular thing.
And as I have said already.. joke means where all characters of joke can be replaced by anyone.
I have not changed, still I dont like discussing some thigns ......
I had to post it because someone tried to counter the quote, instead of taking it in a good manner. Quotes are from the same site whose link is provided for countering the quote.
http://rinkworks.com/said/famous.shtml
When I say I dont want to discuss that does not mean that I cant.
AW the link you have given, read the LONG posts only.....
Do you think Kicking asses and puting a smiley after it does not hurt anyone.... but calling a moron and putting smiley hurts ??

A: Absolutely! But then, for this forum the difference isn't too big

Couple of months back I was given a lecture about "Freedom of Speech". Some people gave me examples also (which I found very extreme and in low quality).
What some people dont understand is, eventhough you have the freedom to say anything, you should consider other peoples feelings before you say anything. If you dont, you should not complain when others take the same path.

While I'm not particularly interested in your "low quality" poorly thought out attempt to tie two dissimilar MD threads together, I would like to point out that nobody is asking anybody to not exercise free speech (based on the earlier thread a concept which many have failed to grasp, but I digress). Ravish asked a question, I simply provided an answer.
I'm a big boy and I don't think there is much that can be said here that is capable of "hurting my feelings". It's a free country (some places anyway) and you are free to say what you'd like (check local laws to be sure though). Yourself and the others have made your attitudes towards us clear in this thread and in previous threads, so quite frankly I'm not seeing anything new or unexpected.
So if I don't like it, I will simply move on to another thread, point out the many inaccuracies in what has been said (as has been done already), or simply fire back. I'm certainly not going to cry about it or blubber to the powers that be to close a thread because I might find the subject matter not to my liking. That's just plain pathetic IMHO. Anyway, feel free to continue.

Yes, you have freedom of speech. And so do I. Just because you have the right to say something stupid doesn't mean that no one can call you stupid for saying it.

When they claim to be factual. Let's say I made up a joke about people from India that said they were all morons and were better off when they were ruled by the British. Would that be offensive? Why when it's just a joke? Loosen up. Since when do jokes have to be based on facts? But, it's OK to spread lies about the president of the US as long as it's just a joke, right?

As per your logic, even blond jokes would be banned. Or you don't think blond girls are really dumb, do you?
Who is spreading lies about the US president??? I don't see the original post saying anything like that. Almost all the jokes are based on a tiny thing blown out of proportion. Nobody is actually trying to prove that Bush said all that. However, I do find it funny. And if you replace Bush by Bill Clinton, I don't think anybody would find it funny. Similarly if you replace Clinton by Bush in sexist jokes, they wont be funny anymore. Somethings fit and somethings don't. That's just how jokes work.
There tons of jokes about Indian curry already. You can too make jokes about Indians being morons or being ruled by the british and see how many people laugh. Try it out...who knows it might start a new series of jokes.
You can try whole your life but if dumbness is attributed to Bush, you can't get it off. Sexual excapades are attributed to Clinton and you can't get it off even if Clinton becomes an ascetic. And I don't think any non-american attributed dumbness to Bbush. It's your own people. As one of the links given in the previous posts shows, somebody is even printing a calander of Bush's comments. What will you do about it? Sue them?
You are taking it too seriously.

A Klansman telling jokes about Martin Luther King is not funny.
An Arab person telling Jewish jokes is not funny, nor is a Jewish person telling Arab jokes.
A white South African telling jokes about Nelson Mandella is not funny.
A Texan telling jokes about Mexican immigrants is not funny.

Balaji,
I thought that it was funny, even though I knew that he didn't REALLY say all that stuff.
And I am a supporter of his. Frankly I really admire the man - even if he sometimes gets tangled up in the words .
Why does a man have to be "perfect" to be a great leader? He is certainly the best leader for the US right now - even if he is human.

It depends on the joke. When you CANT replace the characters of joke, you are gonna be in big trouble.
Here it does not depend even if you change the name of big personality with anyone. If it makes you happy then repalce it with A.B. Vaypayee. But thing is that no one will believe you
