Two questions:
Part one is: Does anyone know of a use for mercury in the brick-laying industry. We had a wall rebuilt recently, and there is mecury on our path.
(metalic, liquid, high surface tension. Just a guess but I'm pretty confident)
Part Two is: does anyone know of a safe way to neutralise it? It's on paved brick-work so I can't pick it up via rolling into paper, and it's spread into little droplets over a reasonably large area as well (about a square meter). I've had it recommended to try sucking it up or soaking it in sand, but I'm wary.
Can I buy a clue?
Dave

It depends on how much mercury is there. As the link mentioned, mercury vapor is toxic. If it is outdoors in your driveway, it is highly unlikely that it will do you any harm unless there is a big puddle of it, and even then only if you are directly over it (bending down) breathing the vapor, or if you are rubbing into cut or scraped skin.

if you have an ink filler ( the old kinda one ) then you can get it to suck the metal off.
If not, you have any capillary tubs in handy then try getting nature work with you ( capillary rise, due to surface tension ) to get it out.
If not, if yo have a vaccum cleaner, try vacuumming it.
Well, what ver you do, have a merry christmas.
