Map (for both).
But I think it would be more fun to vote for meanest bartender. That way I can enjoy competing for the most votes.

You can count them, Jim, since you won't be getting one yourself.

You guys/gals are all great!
Maybe a vote for who would never, ever, get to be a bartender/sheriff would be more entertaining.
I guess I know someone for sure who would be getting 99.9% of the votes
Ok I get the remaining votes, I know.

Well, that was part of my campaign. But I deleted the comment you refer to at about the time you posted your comment (unseen by me at the time), so as not to set too bad an example.

Being mean to Map doesn't really qualify as being a mean bartender/sheriff. But yes, Jim, I'm afraid you haven't the least little thing to recommend yourself on the mean-spirited front.
Speaking of which, I'm essentially free from work until the 20th. When and where am I going to buy you a beer, or are you back in AZ? If so, where?

Michael, Jim was not being mean to Map. He was mean to somebody else.

You must have missed his comment. Pity.

Oh well, long time no see. I am extremly busy, as usual. In fact, I got to run now. But anyway, my favorite bartender and sheriff are:
Peter den Haan/Jessica Sant/Mark Spritzler/Junilu Lacar (tie for best bartender);
Cindy Glass(best Sheriff)
I also have best Ranch Hand/Greenhorn in mind, they are:
Michael Zhang/Roseanne Zhang/Dan Drillich/Don Liu

So, you're saying you hide the evidence better?
Seriously, I knew you would take it in the spirit it was intended, but was concerned it might set the wrong tone for this thread if someone took it too seriously. But if you're curious - I merely noted that if you needed any more help with simple Java in General (beginner) posts, you need only ask .
Sory I didn't get back to you about the beer - was running around doing a number of other things. Currently I'm mostly hanging out in Tucson, AZ (or sometimes Flagstaff), between contracts as they say. Will be back in the bay area at some point (even if it's just to take stuff out of storage and move it somewhere else) - I'll definitely let you know when I'm in the area again.

Ahh well I'll just have to take it i suppose!! Personally I have no faves ... everyone here does a fantastic job. Those I have met in person, Michael, Marilyn, Jim and Paul Wheaton are all lovely people!!

My favorite bartender is Book Review Team. BRT doesn't fill up meaningless drivel all day long (like a certain A.P. ) and always has something concrete and useful to contribute. I've never seen BRT ask a question about anything, which is indicative of technical guruship. BRT has never incites arguments (well, except for once recently...) or bickers about immaterial things. BRT is the uber-bartender. The bartender that will make all other bartenders obsolete.
And now, BRT (Champion of the Weak! Savior of the Ignorant!), I humbly ask that you protect me from the wrath of Michael Ernest and bring a good harvest this year.

Good point. I withdraw my votes for Map and cast them for Angela instead.
BTW, Cindy, Marilyn, Jessica, and Pauline are all extremely as well.

Since I havent posted too much, I only know a few of the bartenders and sherifs here. Though so your kindness have impressed me very much. Visiting here is a great help to my study and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere in Big Moose Saloon. I highly appreciate everybody who is keeping doing contributions and helping people.
If I have to vote for one as my favourite, its Peter den Haan. I can almost always get his comprehensive, explicit and accessible explanation when I have any problem concerning concurrency. My great appreciations to Mr. Haan.
Also thanks to Jim Yingst, Thomas Paul, Kyle Brown, Ilja Preuss, Dirk Schreckmann.

Thanks, Ellen. I'm very happy to hear that. But your vote should really go to Paul Wheaton. It's his site, and his wish that JavaRanch should above all be a friendly and relaxed place where newbies and old hands should equally feel at home. He chose key people to help hom realise that ideal, and whenever there's a tough decision to make (as in: what should we do with this posting? or: should we ban this person?) he's always around to make sure that we err on the side of openness and friendliness.

Peter has a good point. However having met both Paul and Angela, I can say that Angela is definitely cuter; thus, I'm not changing my vote.
