resource usage after setting -verbosegc

After I set the parameter of -verbosegc in my JVM, will it consume a lot of computer resources such as CPU, memory ?
Since it will monitor the heap usage all the time and print into the log, so I think it should take up more resources, then I just wonder whether it will affect other application currently running in the server.

How much more CPU or memory will it take up after using this parameter comparing with that without it ?

Sounds like a question for Mr Heisenberg's and his uncertainty principle, that would well imply that observing the state of the system may in fact change it.
