I am not sure if this is the right forum.
When Sun JDK (say) 1.4.2 is installed, it installs a plug-in in all browsers including IE. There is an option in IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced where the Sun JDK can be used for applets.

In the Java plug-in if I remove the checkbox for IE and again re-check, the above "Use Sun JDK" option in IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advance is not appearing.

IE version is 6.0.2800.1106

So you disable the plug-in for IE, and then you're surprised that it isn't available in IE?

If you disable the plug-in for Internet Explorer (in the Windows Control Panel), then it will not be available to Internet Explorer, so you will not see the options in Internet Explorer. As far as IE is concerned, the plug-in doesn't exist if you disable it from the Control Panel.

But I re-enabled it again...still it will not be available..
Is there some config file which I can edit to make it available.

Have you relaunched IE after enabling the plugin? Does the control panel show that the plugin is active for IE?

Yes to both. I have tried this several times.
JDK version is 1.4.2_06.

I got a solution. I went to the demo page of the installed JDK and opened an example html applet in IE. That did the trick. The applet loaded and the JRE option was set automatically in the browser.
