what do you define unwanted pixels ?
do you need to crop ? remove all red pixels ? paint an specified area green ?
do you need to resize ?

to remove noise you need to despeckle the image.
to enhance it you need to sharpen the image.

You should be able to find simple algorithms to do both via google.
