can you please tell me what is the differnce between J2SDK1.4.2 and JSE6.0
why the 2 is removed in standard edition.

Because Sun thought that the '2' didn't really mean anything anymore.

"J2SDK1.4.2" refers to the SDK (Software Development Kit) for Java version 1.4.2.

"JSE6.0" refers to Java SE (Standard Edition) version 6.0 (which is the same as version 1.6, see this: Platform Name and Version Numbers).
