Java interactive questionnaire module

Hi All

I need to develop a questionnaire module in an existing application. The requirement is when an user clicks on the questionnaire link in the application, the module should present question to the user and based on the answer from the user another set of related question should be presented to the user.

For example The question asked is "Are you married" Yes/No. If the answer is Yes, then the question to be asked is "How many kids?". If the answer for the first question is No, then the question How many kids? should not be asked.

I would greatly appreciate if any one gives me some tips to develop the module.

I plan to start the module with a parser which parses the answer from the user and then decides to pick appropriate question from the questionnaire table.

Thanks in advance

Based on my experience with creating several questionaire engines, I would say you should first concentrate on the expression of the questions in a script. The form of the script will dictate the logic of presentation and recording. I found it useful to make a diagram of all possible user's "flow" paths.

Personally I prefer XML for ease in editing and flexibility in expressing questions.

I agree. Here's the link:
