Indian Railways is the world's biggest employer with more than 15 million workers. More than 12.5 million people travel by trains in the country daily.

If he is THE deciding factor of your life then why believe in God? .You will see in majority of accidents in India, there were human factors who were found negligent of duty. Then hundreds of commisions,'High' level enquiry, and again everything on track .Also many railway divisions, despite being in profit are very slow to adapt to new technology.Unless there is transparency in the daily working of railways, these accidents will continue..

I truely agree with rahul
" More than 12.5 million people travel by trains in the country daily. "
Where the money is going. To gods pocket.?
50% travels without ticket. All the railway employees travel with out tcikets and they travel only in first class and a/c coaches. Raiway police 'GOOD FOR NOTHING" . When there is an accident comes gov spent lot of money for enquires and finally end up with nothing.
I think Indian Raiways should be privatized.

Then you wont find any train for your village.
All employees of railways get free passes.
Yes very true, they deserve this card as per their rank. Not all railway employee is entitled for First class OR AC compartment.
Agree on this that all TTE are corrupt. I have not seen a single TTE who is not corrupt.
Yes, if they can tackle WT problem then atleast it wont be in loss if not in profit.
And more over railways loss and profit mainly depends on goods train NOT on passenger train.
So wait for day when there will be no corruption.
Till then let it run by GOD

May i ask u why?
Many of the train accidents are due to signalling faults. IR still using outdated signalling system. But have one credit largest employer

Ravish is correct,If the whole Railway is privatized, you will find trains running mainly from cities and towns and not in villages although village population counts more than 50%.This is bcos Railways runs many trains from one end to another even if they are in loss bcos of public pressure/socialism .You can see that Telecom sector has been privatized for the last 7/8 years.Still there are thousands of villages(see Sunday's Indian Express)without telephone. You must also be experiencing how one company is manipulating the Telecom Department now a days.I think Railways should be partly privatized for some period of time and then see the results .

I also agree with partial privatization. Not only for railways but also for Road Transporation. India accounts for 10% of road accident fatalities worldwide mainly bcoz of poorly maintained roads and also absence of positive driving culture. Regarding Telecom I think telecom sector improved a lot...am i rt. Why still some village still no telephone depends on so many factors starting frm literacy rate, economic growth, politicians etc. For ex. Kerala , things are very much better. BTW Can u pls give Sundays Indian ex link abt telecom industry.

It depends on train you take, distance is almost 1600 KM i.e. 1000 miles. Some trains will take you in 18 hours, others who travel through interiors might take 22 hours.Fare for 18-hours should be approximately Rs 4500 i.e. appr.$100.If you have valid credit card and address you can book the tickets online at IRCTC

As I said, you will have to spend minimum of 18 hours irrespective of the route and accident statistics!!Terrorists are mainly in Kashmir and this state doesn't come on this route.and even if by badluck, some terrorists storm the train, they won't keep you alive for 20 days. If you are still scared, you can travel by air,its around 1 hour 50 minutes.Fare will be definitely higher that that of train

All routes have same safety records.
Indian raliway believe in equality. So there is no special route for Don
All routes are equally safe
Still I will suggest you to go to Bombay via Calcutta.
And Indian air traffic safety records are also as good as our train safety record.
Do you believe in God?
US of A prints it on currency but if you want to live here then you have to. No need to remind everytime you spend money

Again, all route are equally safe.

So always travel in reserved compartment. [though you will get some life lasting memories there also ]

Hey Don, Your are needlessly regurgitating this topic. What do you want to say? Indian Trains are crap? OK, they are. And chinese trains are the safest, fastest and the cheapest in the world.
