Posting Density Stastics

Hmmph...I guess I read JavaRanch more than I post. I just notices that I am approaching my 100th post and I've been registered since August '01 And I think that most of my posts have been within the past three months; not that I'd abandoned JavaRanch at anytime; I just didn't post a lot.
Compare this to The Moose, who hasn't been around two weeks yet and is already near half my total posts. When will The Moose overtake me?
I wonder what my Posting Density is...hmm...If I define Posting Density as number of days from first post to last post divided by number of posts...
April 11 '03 - August 15 '01 (using the middle of the month 'cause I don't remember the exact day)
604 days / 97 posts (counting this one) = 0.160596 posts per day, or roughly 6.2 days per post, meaning on average I've posted about once per week.
I'm not sure if this is somethign to be proud of or not, but I'm a tad bit bored here and was lettig my mind wander....

lets see -- I registered in Oct 2001 that's about 550 days ago, and I've got 1937 posts
1937/550 ~ 3.5 posts per day
Our Moose friend registered April 1st... that's 11 days ago and it's already got 44 posts!
44/11 ~ 4 posts per day

I'm backwards from Jessica - 4 days per post for me!
700 days / 163 posts = 4 days per post!
I'll try to do better!!

If The Moose continues to post at that rate, I will be overtaken in total posts by the end of the month.
Unless I do something about it.
And this post counts.

Conversations in here is one way to get the count up. You could also answer every question that hasn't been answered in every forum. Or congratulate everyone who gets certified for 1 week.

Well, I discovered that my profile states that I registered 20 August 2001. Since this is five days after my estimate, and this is one day after my above post, I have been registered for 600 days.
And this my 100th post. Triple Digits!!! woo hoo!!!

Around 3.2 posts/day for me. I have noticed a significant drop-off over the last few weeks though.

So you can not lose and need to override this post rate

If we calculate smiley density statistics, then I guess siu chung man will be a clear winner. I don't remember seeing any of his(or her?) posts with less than 3 smileys.
And for some reason whenever I see "siu chung man" on the left of the screen, it brings a smile to my face even before I start reading the post

1026 posts / 973 days:

And if you just count from Apr 12 '03:

mine is a interesting statistic
June 2001 - Jan 2004 ===> about 115 posts. (about 1 post in 9 days)
Jan 2004 - Present ===> about 300 posts. (about 3 posts a day)
I am sure pickingup some momentum.

Wow. 12 posts a day. Normally I will only post on about a tenth of the threads I read on a forum... if that's normal behaviour, then you must spend an awful lot of time reading stuff. Unless you have a compulsion to reply to every thread you read of course

What kind of hack is that? You need to use the JavaRanch API to pull the values down, or use a Web 2.0 mashup or something.

Joel,
The reason you lost 9 or so posts is that we migrated to JForum in January 2009. It counts differently (and more correctly) than the old software. In particular, if a thread was moved from one forum to another, the old system counted it twice.
