XLS File download from server

I am downloading an xls file as attachment from server...its going fine.The problem comes when i try to upload the same xls file on server.I am using jxl package for reading the file. while uploading the file ,it gives biff exception, as the downloaded file has some web contents, can anyone tell me how to prevent the web contents from being downloaded while downloading the xls file.
