I've recently been doing a bit of geocaching and have found that the best item to put in the caches are foreign coins. Several of the bartenders and sheriffs have sent me coins and I'm burning through them pretty fast!
I have some of the nice JavaRanch embroidered shirts left. See the bottom of this page: http://www.javaranch.com/tackroom.jsp
If you send me 100 coins that are not from the US, I'll send you one shirt. e-mail me at paul javaranch.com if you are interested.

Paul
does it natter how much do they cost/value?
I mean, I can send you 100 * 10 paisa coin. It is just a 10 Rs. (Inidan Rs. 50 = US $1 approx) + courier charges (I think still it will be OK for me.)

Paul doesn't care about the value of the coins. But I think he would prefer a bunch of different coins rather than 100 of the same coin.

It would be nice if you threw in a few other coins too. But if 80% are the cheapest coins, that's okay.
If I read your message correctly, you would like to send 100 coins where each coin has a value of 10 "paisa". This would have a value of 10 Rs. And 50 Rs equals one US dollar. So the value would be 20 US cents? Are these coins pretty tiny?
So 1000 coins would be worth about $2. Wow. But shipping a thousand coins would probably be kind of expensive, yes?
The idea is that I take these coins and put them in the geocaches. Lots of families with kids find the geocaches and pick through the goodies. I kinda think that putting foreign coins in it is a lot like "treasure!" - plus they get to hold some culture from another country.
Now I'm thinking: What if I made a cache that had a thousand coins in it? I could call it "Treasure from India!"

I know that several bartenders and sheriffs did. But nothing from India.

I will check it out ....
And dont worry, these days getting 10 Paisa coin is very difficult , so most probably they will be 25/50 pasia or 1 Rupee coin. But yes it will take some time.
I will mail you, when I will have 100 coins.

Hey guys, the value of the coins aren't important. Cool looking coins are better. Coins that you can identify their country of origin are better. Think of it in terms not of money but just a cool looking trinket from some foreign country that someone is going to either save or put in another geocache. The way a geocache works is that when you find a cache you are supposed to take something from the cache and put something else in it.

Paul, did you ever think of going to an exchange bank and seeing if they will exchange US currency? Probably be a lot cheaper than shipping shirts around the world.

Thomas is right.
It is not the value of the coins that is important. It's the coolness of seeing something that you have never seen before. It's like traveling the world without leaving home.
siu chung man,
Yes, the coins can repeat. Variety is always nice. I'm willing to do this until I'm out of shirts. Which, at the rate I'm going, could be a loooooong time.
Thomas,
I have tried exactly what you suggest. They work only in paper money.
Besides, the coins I have received so far have been really great. They're cool and when I visit a cache I feel kinda like a millionaire cuz I think what I'm leaving is worth far more than anything I find in the cache.

I did not want to be called cheater in the end, thats why I thought to make things clear before.
I thought, I should inform you the value of coin you will be getting.

Paul, I'll send my next batch at the end of June. I'm waiting for the family from South-Africa. So I can send some more SA coins this time.

This time JDJ, you don't need to label every coin! That had to take a huge amount of time!
Although I did like saying "Gilders". And I probably would not have known they were called that if you had not noted it.
