Ahhh for the good old days when I could have stayed at home all day and played with the babies .
Instead I get to work all day to make money for my husband to buy "toys" with, then go home and make babies and care for them and clean the house and etc. etc.
Yep - almost makes me wish that those womens libbers would just hush up!! [Of course men are MUCH to controlled by their hormones to belong in the workplace anyway! They just can NOT keep their minds on business]

I think that a married woman should stay at home after she has kids , atleast until they grow up. Kids need love and affection from their mother . Men do not have that ability to give that much love , affection and understand emotions of kids as a woman can .
Money and career are the secondry things , family should be the first Priority .
I don't understand why a lot of women (specially in India) think that staying at home and taking care of kids is kind of an inferior task and if a woman is educated she must work as she would be wasting her talent by staying at home .
I have seen a number of divorced happened due to that reason and destruction of a lot families .
I think a women who is staying at home and taking care of her kids is doing the most beautiful job in the world , she is infact the CEO of her home and as much respectable and admirable as any woman who has excelled in any career path .
A very nice Book about that subject .

Rahul,
There are a lot of woman who are good enough take care of job , kids and family. Prev all families have four to 10 kids so the mother has to stay home. now that scene changed. a family means wat husband and wife has equal responsibilities. Inidan guys think that after the marriage the girl should stay home( some exceptional cases) and husband is always the ceo. indian girls never thought that staying at home is an inferior task. Then regarding the divorces do u think this is the reason....it can be several reasons rt?
Prev girls have to bear all the torture frm the husband also frm the inlaws, now the its changing, if she working she can at least say why the heck i should bear all these.
In fact im the child of a working mother.I didnt find any problem at all. That only helped me.

read one the reviews of ur good book
All of the stay at home moms in this book are very affluent, and either had very successful careers high on the corporate ladder or in acting or modeling, or their husbands are very wealthy (ceos, doctors, sports stars, actors). While it would be interesting to read a few stories of women who formerly had great careers and decided to interrupt them to stay home with their children, most stay at home moms are not like that. This book made me feel like I have never done anything with my life. Just not very useful to the normal mom, although if you are a millionaire CEO you might get something out of it.

I still don't understand why a lot of people(especially from Canada)think that driving the cab is inferior task than programming/doing MBA and if a man is educated he must do an IT job as he would be wasting his talent in driving the cab.I think the man who drives the cab and takes care of the passengers is doing the most beautiful job in the world. He is infact the CTO of his cab and as much respectable and admirable as any man who has excelled in any career path .

Here I have to be agree, that if any woman is house wife then it does not mean that she is inferior than working woman.
I know some house wives who are much better than so called office going woman in all respects.
I think it more depends on individual. Some people never respect what they are doing
she is infact the CEO of her home and as much respectable and admirable as any woman who has excelled in any career path.
Very true.
But here question is, Is that the only job women are good ?
I mean there is nothing wrong if a woman is working and let me clear now that in today's scenario the post's heading is crap. It might have been true when in 20s when ther were no birth control methods were available.
But you see, Jason misses Cindy, because she does household works too...
And I thought that only indian men are old minded.
But till now no man has come to say that its a crap

Don't blame it on me, I didn't make the statement. I did ask a very similar question, but is was simply a question. A question and a statement are two very different things. I hope this explanation makes everyone happy now.

What, you mean no man has denounced your original statement that women are only good for making babies and taking care of them? OK: your statement is crap. Based on your inviso-text messages I has assumed it was not meant for serious consideration. At least, the word "only" is so obviously wrong here that I have a hard time imagining an intelligent person who actually believes this. It looks like you're just trying to stir up trouble; why, I don't know. So it's probably best for me to just go back to ignoring this thread now...

As previously indicated, I'm quite aware of the inviso-text stuff, thank you. But I'm also aware of the surface appearance, which is all many of the more casual readers here will see, and I thought it appropriate to respond.
I should also add: I can certainly imagine intelligent persons with views similar to those stated. E.g. men and women tend to have different strengths and weaknesses, in general. OK, fine. Depending what someone wants to say about this exactly, I may agree, or respectfully disagree. But saying women are only good for these things is too much; can't accept that. And hiding a few "just kidding" messages doesn't change the apparent message that most people here see - that's what I was responding to.

It's all Ayn Rand fault. She started it, with her claim that no rational woman will want to be the president of the USA, even though she is totally capable of holding job. Due to the "essence of femininity", this job will be a psychological torture for her. I responded, then Herb responded, then I responded again, then Ravish started this thread.
Seriously, as long as you know the context, this thread is harmless, but if you do not diligently read all what's being posted, or you are new to this forum, it would look provocative... But then, often the best posts are made in response to something provocative. I need to think more about it, just wanted to contribute something meaningless to the thread

My Mother is a highly educated woman who left her job to take care of her kids , so it depends on personal experience also .

Stay home moms keep their workplace clean and smelling fresh? Mom is going to take the kids to soccer practice using the quickest, most direct route? You don't have to bring your cabbie flowers and tell him how nice his new hairdo looks?

Its like lighting a fuse on a piece of dynamite and then when it blows up saying "its all Alfred Nobel's fault".
Regarding the issue itself, it is largely true and no one can deny it - Women were designed to make babies and to nurse them. Also it has been part of mankind's heritage for tens of thousands of years for the woman to remain "home" while doing these things. Even in mankind's pre-historical period, which lasted far longer than all of our recorded history, it is the men who left home and went out on the hunting parties to bring back meat, while the women folk stayed home playing with the babies and picking berries. This is the natural way of our species.

No need to suspect evil intentions where plain vanilla stupidity can explain the observed results with reasonable statistical validity. No one can ever predict what can cause the terrible divisions amongst the normally sedate denizens of the Ranch, and what not. Who would think that the problem of becoming the president of the United States is of any significant relevance for normally reasonable denizens of the Ranch? On the other hand, who could predict that illegality of homosexuality in Texas can provoke such a passionate reaction in 74% straight Ranch participant?

Ok, let's try this. Men, who want their women stay home, now required to bring home a pound of fresh mammoth they recently killed.

Thanks for the joke there, Herb.
[HS]: This is the natural way of our species.
Well OK, I don't necessarily object to anything you said here - with the caveat that there are plenty of improvements we've made over the (historically) "natural" way our species has functioned in the past. Like say, medicine and agriculture to name just two. Just because something is "natural" doesn't mean there's no possible room for improvement. But you're right that there are considerable evolutionary and biological factors here that can't be lightly dismissed.

The biggest obstacles to women in achieving equality with men in western society have been attitudes and legislation, and these have little to do with biology.

Are you talking abt mammals ?
As per my little knowlwdge abt bio and anaimal society, I can tell you in mammals male does not work and only females work.
Work means bringing a pound of fresh mammoth female recently killed for their male and children.
OR in animal world, females are so much driven by sex that to make her partner stay with her only she does all work

Equality ?
I thought women have long had superiority. Men are killed at much higher rates from murder and work related accidents (men have more dangerous jobs), likewise for accidents that criple or maim, women actually own and control much more wealth than men, women are free to stay home and raise kids without the "attitudes" of society expressing disapproval, women get judcial preference in child custody cases, women get alimony (free money) from their ex-husbands more easily, etc, etc,
Equality my a$$....
