When someone tells you they're a J2EE professional, what does that mean to you ?
What minimum skills would you expect ?

Servlets, JSPs, JDBC, EJB would be the minimum.

Augment that with UML, GoF and J2EE Patterns, JMS and other peripheral technoligies and you should feel confident calling yourself a J2EE pro.

Thanks. Its just that lately I've been encountering more and more people with "J2EE" in their list of qualifications.

I don't think UML and design patterns are part of the minimum requirements. To be a good programmer they might be required but not just to call yourself a "J2EE programmer".

you are probablly right if he just looks for minimum requirement for a j2ee guy. it is like 'what is the max deductable you want for a 1983 toyota camery?' i would definitely put down $1,000/$1,000 for collosion/comprehensive, assumimg they are the max.
