You need to do the following:

  • Write a program that schedules your task at certain intervals. To start with you can use a TimerTask. However, TimerTask does not have the capabilities like a full fledged scheduler as quartz but you can start with it.
  • Run the above program as a windows service (windows machine) or a unix deamon. This is a little tricky and things like Java service wrapper will be of help to you.

  • apigee, a better way to API!

You may as well use crontab on unix or scheduler (?) on windows to run your program at a specific time.

i thought it would be better to build an application which when installed in only one's machine(my machine) rather than in every machine(team members) the program should send mails to every body at certain time intimating them to do certain task like filling up of time sheet..

How do i do start developing this?

    ranchers please help me..

    Thanks & Regards,

You've already had two suggestions. For sending mail you can use the JavaMail API.
