Hi,

Does anyone know of any tried 'n tested and good Java based text to speech synthesizer, something that's relatively simple to play with and send strings to?

Thanks in advance

There is a Java Speech API, and there are a number of implementations of it available, such as FreeTTS.

Try Googling for "java text to speech".
