ya exactly. who cares.
In my economics book it says something like "reporting the trade deficit is like reporting the number of bald men resident in a country".
here is what google found me:

clearly, china, japan, western europe create most of the deficit fot usa.
the goods deficit with china ($7.7b), with japan ($5.8b), with w. europe ($7.8b).
usa's imports from china (primarily computer accessories and computers), from japan (primarily TV's and VCR's, automotive parts, and toys, games, and sporting goods), from w. europe (primarily passenger cars, other petroleum products, and pharmaceutical preparations)
usa's exports to china (primarily civilian aircraft, raw cotton, and semiconductors), to japan (primarily industrial engines and computer accessories), w. europe (primarily civilian aircraft, pharmaceutical preparations, civilian aircraft engines, and passenger cars)
i found usa's imports from china is primarily computer accessories and computers, which is quite contrary to my previous belief.
