i think this is more appropriate section, reposting
i have a mac machine and want to install jdk
just confirmed with sun!that they dont have jdk for Mac
Isnt it strange?
by the way i had one question about JVM, java is platform independant, so how does java prgrams run on other platforms such as Mac, in VB there is a utlity which packs some of the Windows DLL with disributable .exe files, does that happen when you pack the -jar?

Well, in every platform that you want to run Java programs in, there must exist a JVM installed. Sun is not the only provider.

I don't know that the JVM would be formally a part of the OS, but maybe in practical terms it could be viewed like that.
