Is this legal?
String
[] a[]=new String[20][20]
I know that the following are legal, but not sure about the aforementioned example.:
String a[][]=new String[20][20]
String [][]a=new String[20][20]
Thank you in advance!!!

Hi
It seems like it does work.
Here's the proof. Run this...
import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class ClassTest { public static void main(String[] args) { String someString = new String("Hello there"); int elements = 5; String[] a[] = new String[elements][elements]; int counter = 100; for (int x=0;x<=elements-1;x++) { for (int y=0;y<=elements-1;y++) { a[x][y] = "String" + counter; counter++; } } for (int x=0;x<=elements-1;x++) { for (int y=0;y<=elements-1;y++) { System.out.println("Value of [" + x + "][" + y + "] is: " + a[x][y]); } } } }
