There are about 61 forums in Javaranch
A person called Paul Wheaton thinks that he is a Trail Boss
There are many dudes there who think that they are a damn good moderators
Some people come here just for MD (like me) and does not know anything about Java
Some people are only interested in posting political/religious topic in MD
Some people post like a thunder and are gone for years.
Most of the ranchers dont know that there is anything like MD in ranch
Most of the people dosent know that there are many other forums except MD
Very few participate in more that 10 forums
There is a mysterious dungeon called "moderators only" god knows what is going on there.
Average rancher's lifecycle consist of following 3 phases :
1. Programmer certification (starting his/her programming career)
|
|
V
2. Job discussion (cleared the certification but no job)
|
|
V
3. Stucked to MD
(got the job now very efficiently utilizing his/her office equipements)
There are many who have just 40-50 posts but they are here for years
There are some who posts after every 1 minute
There are some of very special category who use different names(user names) in different forums.
4 or 5 forums contribute to the 70% of total posts in ranch
MD is competing with programmers certification for the no 1 position
There is only one forum MD in which I can post such type of very very usefull information.

I'll let you in on a secret. That "world domination" think in MO is going very slowly :roll: . In spite of the number of posts.
So, I guess I would rate this summary of "the posting habits of JavaRanch users" up there with the "mating habits of hungarian swallowtails".

Yea, the unsophisticated have no idea how hard it is to get your hands on a couple of kilos of plutonium these days.

Monotonous isn't it? Reminds me of the old joke:
Know how to drive a redneck crazy? Put him in a silo and tell him the bathroom is in the corner.

once javaranchers get OCP qualified they never return..
MD is singularly responsible for economic downturn in GDP..
real javaranch addicts belong to on average 4 other forums but keep them secret from other javaranchers..

    The bit about the lifecycle of the average Javarancher is exactly like mine lol I found this site back in 2001 when I was studying for my SCJP1.2, ended up in MD, and then moved out briefly for SCJP1.4 and SCWCD before crashing back to MD. And Ive been here ever since
    The best part is though, I dont even program in the bloody language! My current job has me firmly placed in the .NET camp (cue Star Wars Imperial March music) (*). I just come here for the craic thats all.

    (*) Hey I tried to get a java job, but the downturn over the last year meant that Java jobs in my area were few and far between. You gotta take what you can get if you want to pay the bills

    javaranch--
    a place that was liberated from WASP (White Anglo/Saxon Protestant) and jews;
    a social laboratory where the new world order was developed;
    a revolution that will eventually change the entire civilization history;
