Java on SGI

I'm looking at purchasing a slightly older SGI. It will be running Irix 6.5.something. One thing I'd like to be able to do on it (among many) is develop and run java apps. My primary machine for real java development is my win2k box, but I'd like to fool around with it on the sgi. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a compiler, jre, etc available? Free? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

The JDK Linux version should work for Irix too ... Check the Sun Site ...

Java is supposed to be platform-independent. But of course, Irix 6.5 may be too old, in that case, I think you may have to upgrade it.
