Hello,
What is the unicode for the character 'TM'? (TradeMark ).
We are developing an application using SilverStrteam application server which was earlier developed using Java1.1 and now its developed in java 1.2.
Here the character 'TM'was shound using the unicode character \u2122. Is the case same for Java 1.2??. I strongly believe that it is the same as Java 1.1. But howevere in our application its shows a starnge character when the \u2122 is used.
plzz help
...warm regards

You are correct, Saj, the Unicode escape character for the "trademark" symbol is '\u2122'. However, this symbol also refuses to display on my system. I don't know what governs this behavior--maybe somebody else out here on JavaRanch can help us.
I ran this piece of code to test the displayability of (TM):

"Pi" displays fine; the trademark symbol does not, there's just blank space after "Sun Java".

The Unicode slignment is not maintained by Sun, it is maintained by the www.unicode.org group.
The TM value is still at /u2122:

The upgrade in Java will not impact the representation of the code. HOWEVER, you should check you font.properties file to see if it needs to be tweaked to handle that unicode codepoint correctly.
