Here is a simple question that probably (and hopefully) should generate some discussion:
Which Java development tool/IDE is the best?
That is what reasons are there for using one or the other, I mean there are a few: Visual Caff´┐Ż, J++, J builder, etc.
Give me your views, and reasons
/Mike

If u want to create easily a pretty GUI, FORTE(tm) for java is useful. u draw ur GUI then select the events ur components need and a great part of the code is generated automatically.
and above all it's free on the sun java site.

Actually we have a WHOLE forum dedicated to this conversation call "IDE's and other Tools".

However per:
JavaWorld Editors' Choice Awards ceremony at the JavaOne Conference and Expo in San Francisco, June 4-8.
And the finalists are:
Best Java IDE
Borland JBuilder 4 Enterprise, Borland Software
Forte for Java 2.0, Sun Microsystems
VisualAge for Java 3.5, Enterprise Edition, IBM
