I am wondering if anyone can point me towards some good resources on creating and writing classes?

Do you mean in the actual coding of classes or
the design of classes ?
Here's a free book (incomplete) on class and interface
design.

You need to get a good book.
"Thinking in Java" is available for free at www.bruceeckel.com .

PS Russell_Bush,
We have a "JavaRanch Naming Policy" that says that your name should have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. We would like this forum to be as Professional as possible. Please choose a new name which meets the requirements. (get rid of the underscore).
Thanks, Cindy
