I have just downloaded jdk1.3.1_01 from sunsite to my windowns 2000 machine. I tried to complie a java file but got error "javac is not a recognised command". When I cheked the environment variables, neither path nor classpath contain anything related to jdk or java. What should I do? Can somebody help me with the values that I have to enter in these variables? And why doesnt jdk do all these thinsg when ran the jdk exe file? I am eager to complie my first java file( not hello world...!).
