Hi,
I have just started with java.
I have downloaded jdk1.2.2.
And i have written a small program a.java just to check whether everthing is working fine.
But i am getting the following error.
The name specified is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
What does this mean.
If i type just javac also i get the same error.
Please help
Sonali

Hi Sonali,
This means that DOS can't find the exe you are trying to run. In your case you need to place the following into your PATH command:
c:\jdk1.2.2\bin
assuming you have placed jdk1.2.2 in the c:\jdk1.2.2 directory. If you have not placed it their then use whatever place you put it and include the bin directory. Once you have done that you should be able to type:
java -version
to see if it works.
Regards,
Manfred.
