hi, i would like to know as to how much time is required to prepare for sjcp. i am a begineer but would like to know as to how one should build along to be ready for certification. also kindly give some references for good books. thanks
How much time to prepare depends on individual, how much time you put in per day, etc. As for books, I used the complete Java2 certification guide and Java2 exam Cram. To get your feet wet with java though, I suggest Ivor Horton's Beginning Java 2. Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel will also help you a great deal both for the exam and as you progress in your career. You can post your questions to the programmer certification forum here to get more responses. ------------------ Bosun SCJP for the Java 2 Platform

JavaRanch has a BunkHouse full of recommendations for books. For a beginner book I like Just Java 2 by Peter van der Linden. For certifications books I am sort of biased . . . ------------------ Cindy Glass Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform Co-author of Java 2 Certification Passport
