I want to divide my panel into 2 halves.
top has some text fields
and the bottom half is gonna be a JTabbedPane w/tabs
----
When i add a JTabbedPane to my panel...it takes up all space.
Thanks

You will need to work with LayoutManagers to position
gui widgets in your panel. If you have a JPanel, by
default it uses a java.awt.FlowLayout. This LayoutManager
adds items to the view, left to right, in the order
that you add them in your program. You probably want to try a BoxLayout or GridLayout to divide the
panel into upper and lower halves.
