Java3D: How to draw a simple "line"?

I've managed to get a SimpleUniverse going and I have a Canvas3D object and now I want to draw a single line/vector in this space. I haven't found anything in the java3d docs that helps and every example I've seen so far has been about bouncing spheres/balls and rotating cubes.
Probably I'm just thick.
Any help will be very appreciated
regards
Patrik

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
