I highly doubt that. Pointers are cool, but dangerous.

Absolutely Not! Pointers in Java? Never. Not now, not ever.

1.4 is out now (without pointers, naturally):

Is it really out? I mean, "officially" official? Because I just d/l it a couple of days ago and it's still labeled as a "Release Candidate."

Go fish.
No, seriously - yes it's the real thing. It was annoying me that for the last few days places like www.javaworld.com had articles about the final release being out - but if you went to Sun, the links still were for the release candidate only. Finally, that has changed.

No Pointers (Thank Gosh, I'm too old to relearn pointers) but we do get an "assert" keyword now! Woot!
