My application is a multi-screen app; at the
last screen, a reference number is generated.
I am modelling the reference number generator
as a class like this:
interface ReferenceNoGenerator{
public synchronized RefNum next();
}
Is this ok ? Are there any patterns for doing something like this ?
Thanks
Pho

You will need to have a static variable in the interface to hold the last value.

If the ReferenceNumber itself was an object, this could sort of be a simple factory design. But it really sounds like you are just incrementing a counter.

Thanks Cindy.
Yes, I am incrementing an int of some sort
and concatenating some strings. RefNum is actually a String object.
Thanks
