What is J2EE, and how does it differ from normal JAVA?

J2EE is the enterprise edition. It has more tools and APIs in it for doing things like distributed computing, creating multi-tiered applications, servlets, jsp, rmi, and a bunch more. For all of the details check out the overview on Suns site.
