does anyone know where i can find some good documentation on making system calls in linux or some info on just calling certain files in my bin directory?
I want to write a gui that does a few things for me. I want a gui that has predefined flags and stuff...i just say mplayer: and fetches the flags or something like that.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
