Is it possible to generate *.class in different directory than the source code is.
c:\javac Hi.java
Is there any option to place my compiled classes in lets say c:\School

If you just type "javac", you'll get a list of options you can use with that command. One of them is -d, which you can use to specify your output directory for compiled class files.

Yep That works for you Manuel,
command is javac -d c:\classes MySource.java.This will make ur MySource.class file to be stored in c:\classes directory.
Rob,
Is there any properties file kind of thing to store the class files to c:\classes directory with out giving the option -d in javac??.Since i have to specify each and every time while compiling!!!.
Thanks,
Murali

Murali,
if you're working with windows you can create a batch file to run the javac command with the parameters you want. THis saves a lot of typing. You can also do this with a *nix shell script.
When even *this* gets too tedious for you because your projects are getting large, it's time to get a real build system. I highly recommend ANT.

Murali,
You may wish to mosey on over to The Jakarta Products Forum to bring attention to questions on Ant that you might have. While you're at it, don't miss Jakarta's Ant Homepage.
Good Luck.
