Ok, I am having problems installing Java on my win nt 4.0 server machine. I am not sure what the error could be at this point so here is some info:
the machine has installed:
Java 2 runtime environment se v1.4.0
java 2 sdk enterprise edition v 1.3.1
java 2 sdk se v1.4.0
java web start
java web services developer pack 1_0_01
windows nt 4.0 service pack 5
(I include this info as I am afraid one java thing may conflict with another)
environment variables (been playing with these)
classpath c:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin;c:\work'%CLASSPATH%
path c:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin
most java progs compile no prob but when I try to run I get Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: NameofProg
I have been coding awhile so I feel a little silly asking

Have you tried to reinstall the JDK and/or the JRE? Upon installation, either one should (and in my experience do) set the environment variables correctly in order to run Java programs.

Make sure you have the working directory ('.') in the classpath.
