Hi
Simple question - i cant seem to find the download of the latest java compipler. I always seem to end up with 1.1.8???
Is there any way i can tell which version i have got, or could you send me a link to the right one??
Thanks

1.1.8 is pretty old. Unless you're on a pre-OS X Mac (as I was until a few weeks ago), you shouldn't be using it.
Get something newer from http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html .

If you are using a PC, open a command window and type java -version at the prompt. So long as you have java in your path, this will tell you the version you are using (which may or may not be the latest one you downloaded - make sure the version you want to use is in your path)

Its not what you do, its the way you say you've done it.

That will tell you what version of the interpreter, but not what version of the javac compiler.
