Compiling Error

I'm trying to compile a program I know works but I get the error
error:can't write to file
or
error while writing to filename.class
public class filename

Rest of question:
I'm not sure if it is my classpath or what. Please help!!

What command do you issue to create the error?
This maybe looks like a file access permission problem.

I figured it out. The filename.class had previously been read only so it wasn't able to write to it when I recompiled. I deleted the read only version and it works now.
