I took it and it says that I am a INTJ. (I would assume most people here are INTP...) Gandalf the gray also has the same personality (general consensus: http://www.typelogic.com/intj.html). Since I haven't gotten married yet and still have yet to find that perfect Mrs. Eleison :-) the impression I get is that most INTJ's are attracted to a certain type of gal; what type of girl would Gandalf be attracted to and suitable for? Obviously we could deal in abstract. However, I was thinking more in concrete terms -- what women character? Factional or fictional. Could you see Gandalf going out with a Britney Spears or wonderwoman? Obviously not.. But then who???

Perhaps Wonder Woman because they are at least both fictional characters. I think Britney would find Gandalf to be rather two dimensional for her.

Gandalf is clearly a confirmed bachelor. Certainly he would date Dumbledore on the sly.

After posting the question, I also thought of this. Actually, they would make a good couple. Gandalf is a bit detached and Galadriel is a bit more social... I guess their relationship would be pretty good... It would be one of those relationships where they don't really focus on their relationship but on the big picture -- how's middle earth is doing, etc.. huhm, interesting

Actually, most people on this board seem to be dreamers.. thinking about possibities and abstract thought. Nothing concrete... Also, I've been told that most INTJ are less incline to post stuff.... Errr.. actually, you maybe right... ALl the postings are mostly from INTP's but most lurkers are INTJ -- it would be hard to compare ratios of INTJ vs. INTP on this board if the posting of INTJ are not representative of the number of INTJ lurking...

ps. Everything I write is IMHO... I am not a psychologist... I just play one when I'm running out of work @ work :-)

Heh, well given Gandalf's real-life tendencies (as Sir Ian McKellen) he'd probably be more into Harry Potter than Dumbledore.

ENTJ here. Fictional representative: Geordi LaForge, and we all know the Chief Engineer likes the hella smart foxy ladies!
All you INTJ same-sex child-lovers make me wanna sick.

I come out as INTJ as well. Something's fishy here. this page suggests that such folk should be less than one percent of the population. Now, I know I'm special, but the rest of you...
Plus, I'm looking at this link and for the life of me, I can't figure out what Michael Ernest has in common with Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin, and Jim Carrey. Dave Letterman, maybe, that I could see.
So, I'm thinking that my traditional take on psychoanalysis (it's crap) has not been tarnished.
And Gandalf would make it with Melian, of course.

Seeing as less than 1% of the world population is likely to visit this site it is theoretically possible that all people here are INTJ (especially as the size of the testgroup taking only the people here would be too small to be conclusive).
I guess programmers tend more towards being introverted realists than dreamers by training and inclination (whether cause of effect remains to be seen).
I can't see Gandalf with any other ME character. His mate would have to be an eternal (he'd have long since found that the grief from loosing partner after mortal partner is not something to repeat) and have powerful magic as well as being a logical character.
Only elves and ents would apply (as there are no female Valar and Maiar in the ME that we know of.
The Entwifes are lost (and being non-humanoid a relationship would be difficult at best) and were not highly logical characters.
All female elves that are known are either departed from the world or as Galadriel are quite above such liaisons (or have formed them in ages past with members of their own species and not about to change them).
The only female elf known to form a bond with a male from another species was Luthien, and she was lost as she became mortal.
Arwen Halfelven is a result of that liaison and mortal (though with greatly prolonged lifespan) and is bound to Aragorn Isildur's heir.

Hmmm, I wasn't going to dignify this with a response. But then it occurred to me that the big G could always go after young Dernhelm. It would be like "The Crying Game" in reverse.
