ArrayList - still getting null pointer exception?

Hi, I think I need help here.
I'm trying to pass data values from several applets to a single applet ie a class which "collects" all the records and store them temporarily.
This is the simplified version of the TXRecord class, its var_<variables> are updated by other applets:

This is the startup applet which instantiates the TXRecord to collect data values for the record:

Next, this frame updates the var_<variables> in TXRecord and the txrecord.var_counter increments by one

What have I done wrong now? :-(

Perhaps I'm missing something.
I don't see how that line of code could be creating a NullPointerException. Could you post a more complete code example and the complete exception message?
Just out of curiosity, how is the init method of TXRecord being invoked?
