After downloading the standard version of the Java Software Development Kit, I am unable to install the setup launcher.
The Windows logo appears as a file icon. I am running Windows 98 SE.
Thanks in advance people!

What exactly did you download? Sounds to me like you might have downloaded the wrong version. It should have a .EXE file extension on it.
One other possibilty is that the file got corrupt somehow after the download. In that case, just download it again.
Make sure you download the JDK specifically for Windows. They are different for the different platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac).

I downloaded the 1.4.2 Version of the Java SDK, which should be compatible with Windows 98 SE according to the site http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/system-configurations.html
The file I downloaded appears simply as a JavaSDK Standard file.
There isn't an .exe extension for some reason.
I am now trying to download it again.
Thanks!
