hi to all java aficionado out there:
i'm jerome laggad, a college student. i have a subject about java programming language and i became addicted to it. it is very nice programming language to learn and apply in every respect in the world of technology. i just want to know who is the inventor of this language!!! i am confused with what i have learned from my professor. i dunno if james gosling who is the one invented or, patrick naughton or scot mc knealy.. i just don't sure about it. and to ask to all of you if this inventor still alive today. perhaps i can ask questions with him/her regarding java. thanks a lot

Howdy Jerome, welcome to the Ranch! And glad to see you so passionate about the language, we here feel the same way.
But since this question isn't I/O related but Java in general, I'm moving it to the beginners forum.

James Gosling is generally the one given the title "father of the Java programming language". Patrick Naughton, Mike Sheridan and he worked on the original Oak project (which became Java).
This project was chartered by Sun, whose CEO is Scott McNealy.

Just to nitpick, the term "language designer" is usually applied to people who create programming languages based on existing constructions (as opposed to the term "inventor").

I would think all the people who made the language should get credit for making it. (They all worked for Sun though)
