What do I need to download for Java programming?
What do I need to download from the sun site to start programming in Java? I am not sure which link from the Sun site. There were a number of links there but I was sure which one.

This is what to do:
Go to www.sun.com
Look for the topic "Learn About"
click "Java"
On the next page click on "The Java Tutorial"
On the next page click on "Your first cup of Java"
The following pages tell you how to install everything you need to start programming no matter what type of system you have. It will even give you a free tutorial if you want.

You likely want the J2SE 1.4.2_04 SDK for 32-bit Windows available at the following link.

Thanks for the link.
Trying to install and I get the error...
Error 1772. There was a problem with the installer package. A program run as part of the installer package didn't finish. Contact your support person.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Download again. And I wouldn't download the internet-based installer. I'd download the complete installation program.

From
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
click on the 32-bit Windows J2SE 1.4.2_04 SDK download.
After accepting the license agreement, click to download the "Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (j2sdk-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe, 49.36 MB)".

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
