Jar Files Extracting On Compile

All of a sudden, my OracleConnectionManager jar file is unzipping and extracting when I compile a class that references the jar file. The jar file has always been in ....tomcat_version/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/. I tried moving it jdk_version/jre/lib/ext/, but it is continuing to extract to the classes diretory. My application won't process any servlet or class that uses methods from the OracleConnectionManager jar file when the .class files are in the classes directory. I have tried deleting the unzipped folder, but that doesn't work either. Any ideas? Thanks! Lisa

That sounds very suspicious to me.
I never heard of such thing before.
How do you compile your classes?
javac
ant
with a IDE? (which?)

I posted this message on four boards and this is the only response I received. Leave it to me to come across something that doesn't happen often. I am compiling with javac. My SysAdmin who doesn't do programming asked if the jar file was associated with a zip utility. It is, so I changed the file association to notepad. This was happening on two different computer. It fixed the problem on one (Windows 2000), but not the other (Windows XP). Is there a better program to associate the jar files with? Thanks!

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
