My application won't run on another machine

I have written a small application to help a friend who had all his word files renamed by a virus. This is my first application! It works fine on my home machine. When I tried to run it on his.. double clicking the icon, I got the standard windows message saying that it didn't know what program to run the app.

On my machine it uses JAVAW, but this doesn't seem to be on his machine even though it is a brand new machine running XP Home.
Has anyone any ideas what I have done wrong please?

java.exe or javaw.exe must be in the PATH. An easy way to find out is go to the command prompt and type java or javaw. If it says "... is not recognized as an internal or external command...", then you either need to install Java or if it is installed, make sure it's in the PATH.

If it says what I mentioned above, there is a good chance that Java is not even installed on the XP machine.

If it needs installation:

Choose the link titled "Download J2SE JRE". that's the JVM only (no Software Development Kit).
