My current (very dog-eared, very marked up!) copy is "Just Java 2: Fifth Edition".

"Just Java 2" is a superb introductory textbook; it's an equally superb reference book. I never hesitate to recommend it to friends and colleagues who are looking for a good book about Java programming.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
