well, Java is the programming language and Websphere is a J2EE application server from IBM, if that's any help...

When most people say "WebSphere", they mean WebSphere Application Server. But there is also a related tool called WebSphere Studio which in an IDE (Integrated Development Environment). WebSphere Studio helps you to develop Java applications.
