I've just started to learn Java as part of my University module and so I've taken it upon myself to do some extra reading. Now, whilst reading I keep coming across the acronym API. What I ask, does API stand for and also what does it mean? Thanks
API stands for Application Programmer's Interface. An API is a set of classes and/or methods that have already been written and other programmer's can use. Java comes with a massive API. As you learn Java, you should spend some time learning how to navigate the documentation for it. The link above contains several links to the API documentation for different versions of Java. You should find the link appropriate for the version of Java that you are using.
A great site that may help you as you progress through your studies is www.acronymfinder.com. It contains just about any acronym you can think of. Also take a look at www.whatis.com which is a great IT (Information Technology) specific encyclopedia.
Good Luck in your studies.

I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
